Police protection for actor Ajith

Armed police personnel were deployed outside the residence of actor Ajith Kumar in Valmiki Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, here on Friday morning following an apprehension that his house would be attacked. Police personnel were deployed also outside a marriage hall belonging to Rajinikanth situated in Kodambakkam.
The move came after some persons, claiming to be fans of Ajith, damaged a vehicle owned by film stunt director Jaaguvaar Thangam. The rear windscreen of the sports utility vehicle, parked outside Mr. Thangam’s residence in MGR Nagar, was damaged in the early hours of Thursday.
Mr. Thangam was at a film shooting in Madurai at the time of the attack. Subsequently he met the Commissioner of Police and lodged a complaint. The MGR Nagar police registered a case.
The stunt director had in an interview to a Tamil magazine criticised a remark Ajith had made at a function, in which Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi participated, that actors were being forced to participate in political and social events. Rajinikanth had supported Ajith for speaking his mind.
Mr. Thangam, who is also the State youth wing leader of the Nadar Peravai, alleged that the Ajith was behind the attack.
On Friday evening, two unidentified men who came on a motorcycle barged into Mr. Thangam’s residence, threw stones at his wife Shanti and fled. She suffered injuries on her head and hand and was taken to a private hospital.
