International conference on using IT for healthcare

HYDERABAD: The Apollo Hospitals group and its consortium partners CISCO, IBM and Tata Consultancy Services will conduct the first international conference, ‘Transforming Healthcare with IT - 2010', between March 8 and 10 at New Delhi.
Terming it a first-of-its-kind conclave, Executive Director, Apollo Hospitals, Sangita Reddy said it would have a series of comprehensive discussions and panels to review the adoption of Healthcare IT and industry best practices for enhanced operational efficiency and patient care. “The conference will address the healthcare needs vis-à-vis existing practices and re-examine how technology can be leveraged in innovative ways to facilitate communication,” she said, in a press release.
The conference aims to bring together policy makers, healthcare providers and technologists from across the globe, combing the synergies of healthcare IT and mobile technology for a more ‘Connected Healthcare Ecosystem', she said. Among speakers at the sessions are telecom guru Sam Pitroda, NASSCOM president Som Mittal, Pramod Bhasin of Genpact, Nobel Laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Prathap C. Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Hospitals and a host of others.
A highlight of the conference will be the announcement of Healthcare Awards, the first independently audited awards by KPMG, the consulting firm.
