Barbar(a) dekho

Rakesh Roshan insists that he will now need Barbara Mori in Mumbai only when Kites premieres at Diwali

Even as reports about Spanish actress Barbara Mori’s return to India are doing the rounds, Kites producer Rakesh Roshan clears the air. “Barbara has finished all her work for Kites. We don’t need her for the film until the global premieres of Kites begin this Diwali. So there is absolutely no question of her coming down to Mumbai for Kites. We wish her well wherever she is,” said Rakesh Roshan.

Kites is one of the few films that will be dubbed in Spanish. While Spanish is lead actress Barbara Mori’s mother tongue, the film’s Spanish version will also have her co-stars Hrithik Roshan and Kangna Ranaut speaking Spanish. Undaunted by the dreaded A H1N1 Influenza, the makers of Kites are gearing up for a grand release in Mexico. The Hindi songs, composed by Rajesh Roshan, will not only be dubbed in English but also in Spanish for the Latin American market. Rakesh said, “In the film, Hrithik’s language is Hindi while Barbara’s is Spanish. So, we will have English subtitles for Barbara’s Spanish lines.”

Rakesh has no objection to the film being described as an international Ek Duje Ke Liye (1981). If Kamal Haasan and Rati Agnihotri couldn’t be with each other in the earlier film because he was from South India while she was from North India, Hrithik and Barbara can’t understand each other’s language in Kites as he is an Indian while she is Spanish.
